Cooking With CBD: What You Need To Know

The use of CBD is prominent everywhere. Whether it’s incorporated into your face cream or it’s in your energy drink – it’s being added to almost everything. But why? Well, it offers many health benefits – for both the body and the mind. So, why not utilise it into our recipes too?

Before considering the addition of CBD, it’s worthwhile exploring the benefits it has as a stand-alone supplement. It’s a powerhouse of goodness and it might be just what you’re looking for if you’re suffering from fatigue or stress.

The Benefits of Cooking with CBD

  • Helps with pain relief.
  • Combats anxiety.
  • Relieves insomnia.
  • Alleviates stress.
  • Helps maintain brain health.
  • Soothes skin – acne and eczema.
  • Tastes delicious.

There’s no doubt about it, CBD is powerful on its own without the need of adding it to anything else. But if it can enhance the food you’re eating, you’ll naturally reap the benefits.

Tips For Cooking With CBD

Use High-Quality CBD

The quality of your products is important. Just like anything else, it should be sourced from a reputable brand. Especially if you’re wanting to gain the real benefits, choosing your CBD oil carefully shouldn’t be misjudged.

Start Small

A few drops of CBD oil added to your recipes is enough to start with. It might not seem a lot but it’s best to start small and gradually increase the quantity. That way, you’ll be able to notice the gradual increase of benefits over time.

Avoid Direct Heat

Heat can change the composition of the oil and it can also lower the effectiveness of CBD overall. To avoid this, sprinkle it over vegetables and cooked food once it’s been plated – that way, you’re ensuring all beneficial properties are maintained in your CBD recipe.

Mix With A Cooking Oil

Although it’s not recommended that you use CBD oil as a standalone cooking oil. It can be added to existing cooking oil – whether that’s avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil or even butter or ghee. CBD is fat-soluble and with the help of another cooking oil, your body will be absorbing all of the feel-good benefits.

Storing Your CBD Oil

For the best results, keep your CBD bottle in a dark, cool, dry place such as a kitchen cupboard or a pantry. Also, don’t forget to keep it away from direct sunlight, and warm temperatures and keep it out of the reach of children.

How do you make CBD food?

There are many ways to make CBD-infused foods. You can add CBD oil to preexisting recipes or make your own by mixing the oil with ingredients like butter, olive oil, or coconut oil.

You can also use a tincture made from CBD oil to add flavourless drops of CBD to any food or drink.

How do you get high off CBD?

CBD oil will not get you high because it does not contain THC. CBD is a non-psychotropic cannabinoid that does not interact with the CB1 or CB2 receptors in the brain in the way that THC does, so it does not produce psychoactive effects.

CBD oil has a number of potential benefits for health, including relief from pain, anxiety, and seizures, and there is some evidence to suggest that it may also help to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
